Final Drama Performance

Finally, our class perform the drama, with some other grade 10 kids watching the performance. Unfortunately, Gabe who's playing as one of the main character, Munez, got injured and could not participate for the final performance. The final drama performance did not work out as successful as I would have expected, for Gabe who's playing Munez's character all of a sudden can't participate, and make  it more difficult for other characters to adjust themselves in the play, especially for David who replaced Munez's character, and for Eunice who replaced David's character. I find it harder to play as Terserah's character with David, since he did not get used to practice as Munez. Although the final drama performance did not work out as well as our daily practices, but overall it went out quite smooth.

Last drama rehearsal

In the last drama rehearsal, we have prepared and discussed for the whole performance. We have also decided to do a high-school-musical show on the end of the drama performance, using the glee's song. Right on the end of the show, the whole characters gathered altogether and mimicking high school musical kind of concert, where Terserah and Munez as the main hosts singing together. As Terserah, I am going to try mimicking a singer's pose with exaggerating movements, to cheer up the situation.

Friday the 13th

For once again, our class did a rehearsal for the whole drama play. I think the drama worked out quite well, but still needed to be improved, especially without David got involved in the rehearsal. I still needed to work on my performance, and  adjust my volume voice louder, so that the audience can hear me. Meanwhile, I am still working on my improvisation, and making my character as Terserah sound funnier.

Rehearse the whole drama scenes

Today, our class did a rehearsal for the whole drama scene. I had a little bit of trouble in playing Terserah's character, since my partner Tori, got sick and could not practice practice the drama altogether with the class. But the practice still worked out well, with Tori being replaced. We rehearsed the whole drama scenes continuously, in front of Ms. Carol, which worked out smoothly. I still needed to work on my "freezing moment" performance, and better teamwork with other characters.

Monday, 9 May

We were practicing another drama rehearsal, playing the exact scene as last Friday, where the children were called to the principal's office for causing food fight at the school canteen. Each of the student's characters were being called by the principal one by one, having private conversation. While during the conversation with the principle, every characters whose waiting on the entry line freezes into the certain motion, to show our very own characteristics and the funniness side. This time, I improvised my character's action as Terserah, who accidentally tripped on her own feet and fell on the floor, after had an awkward eye-contact with Munez, the guy that she shyly likes.

Friday, 6 May

Another drama rehearsal. This time, we practiced two scenes. The first one is the scene about Munez getting trouble in the principal's office, and getting his Asian dad called by, for Munez's inappropriate behaviour at school, despite his high grade achievement. The sense of humor is tried to be shown through Munez's dad's Asian stereotype, with his made up funny accent.
While the second scene we rehearsed, was about the part when the whole students got called into the principal's office for causing food fights at the canteen. While Terserah, as it was her turn being called by the principa, she walked across the corridor and passed by Munez, showing the kind of awkward pose and funny nervous expression when she had an eye contact of Munez. To show the audience the sense of humor through it, the eye-contact-moment got freezed for a few seconds.

Rehearsal

This time, we're doing the 3rd drama rehearsal, doing the lunch scene at the school's canteen, where me as Terserah's character accidentally dropped foods to Munez's face, and cause a food fight riot between the characters. As Terserah's character, I'm trying to act as an awkward and clumsy girl, who accidentally dropped her foods to Munez's, then feeling guilty for causing the foods fight, and ran away. In this scene, the comedy is being shown from the foods fight, and started with Terserah's clumsiness. The scene also involves the participation of the whole characters.

May 2

This time, we're doing our 2nd drama rehearsal, during the detention scene, where the kids were all running away from Mr. Krustin, while Terserah was the only one who got caught by Mr. Krustin. As I was playing the character of Terserah, I acted as the type of a slow, anxious, and awkward girl who has a bad habit of biting her nails, and always got left out from the crowd. By acting this character, I improvise my own lines as natural possible, and try to make my act seems funny, according to Terserah's awkward character kind of comedy way. The detetion ended with Terserah who failed to run away from the class, and ended in the principal's office, while all of her classmates ran away and left her alone. I'm trying to make my character seems funny, by acting clumsy but in a funny way. In order to improve my performance, I would have to learn a better improvisation, according to the play's condition and situation, so that my act would seems more naturally funny.

28 April, first drama rehearsing

Today is the first drama rehearsal, where we're rehearsing some scenes of the play. I am acting as Terserah's character, Britney's minion, who happens to be the popular girl in school, and shyly likes Munez. The first rehearsal was pretty good, there were a lots of good improvisation, which makes the play seems to be more natural and go in to flow easily. As Terserah's character, I acted more like a paranoid girl who likes to bite her nails, in a result of over anxiety and awkwardness. Terserah is also the follower of Tori, the popular igh school girl. It was pretty hard for me to do improvisation, but as the time goes on, I'll practice more and learn my character as Terserah, so that I would act more natural in the play. The following scene was set in the chemistry class, where the students were making fun of Mr. Krustin, and getting into a trouble, in a humorous way.

22 April

Each of us is paired with a partner, and given a task to write a script for each scenes. I am paired with Bryna, and we're writing the script for scene 2, the part when Munez get into a trouble for mocking Britney of her stupidity, and having his parents got called by the principal, Ms. Boil. It is a challenge for both of us to write a script with a sense of humor, since our drama is based on comedy genre. So we just write the necessary parts and dialogue of the script. The rest of it, it will depends on the improvisation, so the comedy would seems to be more natural. There are some sense of humor being used in the scene's script, where Munez had a fight with the principal and his parents, while Munez's dad at the same time also having a little crush on the principal.
